Treasure is the long awaited debut solo album from Lou Fellingham. As the voice of the band Phatfish Lou also served as part of the Stoneleigh Bible Week’s worship team; her distinctive vocal being a major feature on those ground breaking Kingsway Music recordings. The majority of the songs featured on Treasure were co-written by Lou and her husband Nathan, and perfectly reflect their love of God and people.
Opening track O God Of Love is a re-work of a Stoneleigh favourite. Built around a funky, acoustic groove, Lou and producer “busbee” (The Livingstone Collective) give the song fresh impetus and life. Paul Oakley’s Let It Rain also rejoices in being given the “busbee” treatment, while the gospel/Motown influenced Sing To The Lord and Coming Home, with it’s echoes of Billy Joel and Boz Skaggs, tip their hats to Lou’s early Phatfish days.
Treasure also includes gentle ballads such as Amazing Love, I Will Say and the heart rending God Of Mercy with its beautiful, delicate vocal and sensitive lyric. The title track, Treasure, is a pop/rock song of anthemic proportions and the same pop sensibilities are applied to the flowing Holy Ground, piano driven Build This House, faith restoring Hard Pressed and up tempo rework of worship classic Before The Throne Of God.
This awesome album from one of the most distinctive voices in Christian music has been a long time coming, but the wait is over. Sit back, relax and discover the treasure.
